The third press-briefing of the 6th Eurasian Media Forum

On the 27th March 2007, there was held at the National Press Club another news conference – the one preceding the start - of the 6th Eurasian Media Forum (the “EAMF”) meeting to be held between 19th and 21st April 2007 in Almaty.
The organisers stated that ideological disagreements between Almaty and London offices had become much less critical due to a compromise they reached. However, they highlighted that such topic as dehumanisation of the global politics that caused clashes would remain in the spotlight at the 6th EAMF meeting.
The agenda has been basically put together, and the main panellists have been determined. The main topics will include challenges, being faced in Iraq and Afghanistan, Iranian and Korean nuclear programmes, regional security in Eurasia, causes of political clashes in the former Soviet Union republics, as well as Kazakhstan’s intention to chair the OSCE, regulation and freeform of press, “glamourisation” of journalism as a social and psychological phenomenon.  
The Forum meeting will be attended by well-known and influential persons such as Mr. Mark Perren de Brishambo, General Secretary of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe; Mr. Mohammed Hatami, the former President of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Mr. Yevgeny Primakov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the former Russian Prime Minister; Mr. Geidar Jemal, Chairman of the Russian Islamic Committee; Mr. Grigory Rapota, General Secretary of the EurAsEC, as well as by notable officials of the international media organisations.    
Kazakhstan will be represented at the Forum by intellectuals and leading politicians. They include Mr. Murat Auezov, publicist and scientist, General Director of the Kazakh National Library; Mr. Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, the Speaker of the Kazakh Senate; Mr. Yermukhamet Yertysbayev, the Minister for Culture and Information; Mr. Marat Tazhin, the Kazakh Minister for Foreign Affairs.
 
Doctor Abdullah, the former Afghani Minister for Foreign Affairs; Mrs. Martha Brill Olcott, senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment; Mr. Vitaly Tretyakov, Editor-in-Chief of Moscow News newspaper; Mr. Vladislav Inozemtsev, Editor-in-Chief of Svobodnaya Mysl magazine; Mr. Nikolai Zlobin, Director of the Russia and Eurasia Project, World Security Institute (USA); Mr. Yang Rui, popular anchor at the Chinese CCTV9; Mr. Chung-in Moon, Ambassador for International Security Affairs of South Korea; Mr. Armen Sarkisyan, Director of the Eurasia Centre of the Cambridge University Institute of Management, and Mr. Eduard Sagalayev, President of the Russian National Association of TV and Radio Broadcasters, also intend to take an active part in discussions. 
CNN International is acting as a general international news partner of the EAMF. RIA-Novosti, International Herald Tribune, the Asian Pacific Union of TV and Radio Broadcasters became news partners of the EAMF, too.
