Global Economic Crisis on East-West Agenda
Almaty, Kazakhstan, February 2009 - The global economic crisis and US President Barack Obama’s impact on East-West relations will be high on the agenda of the Eurasian Media Forum, to be held in Kazakhstan on April 23 - 24, 2009.The Forum, now in its 8th year, is a unique annual event.  It brings together several hundred politicians, business leaders, academics and journalists from around the world, many from Russia and the CIS countries, to discuss topical issues on the global news schedule.

The 7th annual Eurasian Media Forum took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan on April 24-25, 2008
The conference was the biggest in its history, with over 500 delegates from East and West: political leaders, academics and journalists from the regional and international media.  President Nursultan Nazarbayev opened the Forum with a call for international cooperation to cope with coming food and energy shortages (see NEWS on this page).  Dr Dariga Nazarbayeva, founder of the Forum, welcomed the delegates.  Other key speakers were Srgjan Kerim, President of the 62nd Session of the United Nations General assembly, Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, Secretary General of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and Zbigniew Brzezinski, US National Security Advisor to President Carter.  An Executive Report on the conference debates will be published shortly on this website.

Kazakhstan offers help to counter world food and energy shortages
Almaty, Kazakhstan, April 24 – Kazakhstan called Thursday for a new form of international cooperation to deal with coming world food and energy shortages.Opening the 7th annual Eurasian Media Forum in Almaty, President Nursultan Nazarbayev pledged that Kazakhstan could play a substantial role in ensuring future global food and energy supplies.
