It is a great pleasure for me to address my warmest greetings to the participants and organizers of the Fourth Eurasian Media Forum.

In our complex world one can hardly overestimate the role that mass media play in promotion of democratic values, exchange of ideas, better understanding between Nations and cultures. Freedom of expression, tolerance of dissent and free press are essential elements in the definition of an open society.

I am confident the Forum will reaffirm itself as an important link between public leaders of East and West.
Let me congratulate the initiators of the Forum, which has become another important undertaking of Kazakhstan contributing to peace and stability in the region and in a wider Eurasian area.
