WELCOME NOTE BY V.V. PUTIN, THE PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION To the participants and the guests of the 4th International Eurasian Media Conference

I would like to welcome the participants and the guests of the 4th International Eurasian Media Conference which traditionally takes place in the hospitable land of Kazakhstan.

Your Forum has already become an extensive and influential public venue, where the most serious and relevant issues are debated and where the media as a whole may play a unique role in seeking to resolve these issues.

This year is becoming increasingly significant as it is the 60th anniversary of the Great Victory over Nazism, an occasion for promoting the universal values that oppose the extremism and terrorism now endangering civilization.

I am convinced that a constructive dialogue during the course of this Forum will promote further understanding and trust and the shaping of the Eurasian media market, based on common humane ideals.
I wish the organisers, the participants and the guests of the Forum fruitful work, success and all the best.
