Dariga Nazarbayeva, the Forum’s founder and driving force, said at the end of the 2005 conference that there would be a fifth conference in 2006, again in Almaty

“I am looking forward to next year’s anniversary of the Forum, the fifth one,” she said in closing remarks. “I hope this time that we managed to influence the ideas of each other and that this will work towards the peace process.

“All of us are not thinking about ourselves but our children and our grandchildren. We want them to have peace,” she added.

Richard Perle said: “I come here in part because this is a place where one can have a debate of this kind (in the Q&A session with General Clark). This is a real tribute to this Forum.”

General Wesley Clark said: “I am very impressed by the depth and breadth of what I have heard today, whether or not you agree with US policy.”
