Dear attendees and organisers of the Eurasian Media Forum,
A big welcome to all of you who’ve come to such an impressive and already traditional event. It didn’t take the Forum very long to become well known not only among experts but also among the public and be recognised as a forum for business communication.

I am delighted that Almaty has become a traditional venue for the forum. It is becoming especially significant nowadays when Eurasia is suffering revolutionary euphoria.

Kazakhstan has a unique experience of preventing such developments. This includes monocentric system concentrating political will of the central authority, thus allowing it to systemically carry out reforms including unpopular ones, and testifies strong nature of vertically integrated administration. Despite the fact that Kazakhstan is populated by various ethnic groups and contains substantial regional differences the authority is supported by the public. That is why at the end of the day positive public expectations prevail in Kazakhstan. The fact that the government plans to support non-government organisations testifies the fact that it will be not easy for revolutionaries to gain full support from all the non-government organisations.
I am confident that the experience Kazakhstan has will help everyone overcome both outside and inside threats. This Forum is a significant moment in the life of the entire Eurasia. Extensive experience gained, and a unique agenda of the Forum allow us to hope that it will promote further dialogue between civilisations and cultures.

I hope that the Forum will play a significant role in consolidation of the media community and emphasise commitment to professional organisations operating in the industry. The media business is already becoming more professional and the media elite is uniting due to many efforts including those made by the Eurasian Media Forum. This is true for journalists and managers who become more professional due to events of this kind.
