Dear delegates of the Fourth Eurasian Media Forum,
Dear Chairperson of the Forum,
Friends and colleagues,
This is the fourth time that we are participating in this unique project, which unites representatives of civil societies from the countries of the East and West in a dialogue on key contemporary issues.
Journalists, politicians, businessmen, scientists and public figures have come together again to discuss questions that are crucial not only for Eurasia but also the rest of the world.
Events such as this forum always influence society. The common ideas and promising projects presented by the forum participants bring together the media community of different states, and promote the partnership of state, non-governmental and commercial structures to the benefit of citizens of the East and West.
The journalist is an intermediary between the state, politics and business on the one hand and society on the other hand. Life in the 21st century is unthinkable without such mediation. Journalists have broad audiences, and we here are lucky to have the ear of international audiences.
Discussions between journalists and their partners in other social spheres and joint efforts to find answers to the most complicated questions are encouraging dialogue between the people in different countries, encouraging them to understand each other better and to stand up against the global threats of the modern world.
Terrorism, international and ethnic conflicts, social inequality and poverty, pandemics and destructive natural disasters and industrial accidents – all of these problems call for the journalistic community throughout the world to take a coordinated approach. The previous media forums made a great contribution to improving understanding between influential representatives of the media and business communities and politicians in the East and West, but we still have a great deal to do in this sphere.
We hope participants in the Fourth Eurasian Media Forum successfully generate new creative ideas, interesting discussions, daring projects, and great prospects. We hope that the East-West dialogue will assume new dimensions and promote greater understanding and closer cooperation.
We wish every success to the Fourth Eurasian Media Forum, its participants and organizers.
