Kazakhstan to host 2003 Eurasian Media Forum in April
16.01.2003The goal of the three-day forum is to promote dialogue between East and West over the politics, economics and strategic importance of Central Asia.
In a prepared release, organizing committee chair Dariga Nazarbayeva said forum planners have developed a "particularly strong agenda and are looking forward to a series of lively and stimulating debates."
In Kazakhstan, Nazarbayeva said, "We will be in the ideal position to thoroughly examine the impact of the international media on the understanding of the critical issues affecting global relations and its role in promoting effective communications between the East and the West."
This year's forum will focus on two major themes: the status of the global media in a changing world, and the challenges and pressures faced by the Eurasian media.
Organizers said over 250 delegates from 50 countries attended the first forum, held in Almaty in April 2002.
